JoeLumb's Album Review Winger-In the Heart of the Young (1990)

ALBUM REVIEW #1 WINGER-In the Heart of the Young
This is one of the first albums that I was committed to listening to religiously and would become the soundtrack throughout the 90's "In the Heart of the Young" is Winger's second studio album released on the 24th of July 1990 and had three hit singles "Can't Get Enuff","Easy Come Easy Go" and the hit power ballad "Miles Away". The first single "Can't Get Enuff" received alot of video airplay on MTV and became the band's radio friendly rock hit hitting #6 at Billboard's Mainstream Rock Tracks Chart. "Miles Away" their next single written by keyboardist Paul Taylor got their highest ranking in Billboard's Hot 100 at #12. At that time Winger the band was comprised of singer and bassist Kip Winger, lead guitarist Reb Beach,Drummer Rod Morgenstein and just mentioned Paul Taylor on keyboards and rhythm guitar. There were a few songs I never paid attention to listening until years later off the album that I didn't like back then, but like NOW tracks like Baptized By Fire,Under One Condition and You are the Saint I am the Sinner. Although three other songs that are my favorites besides the hits I mentioned like "Loosen Up" "Rainbow in the Rose" and the title track itself "In the Heart of the Young." One of my all time favorite albums and it's one of those albums that I hold near and dear as far as creative inspiration goes. As of this writing "In the Heart of the Young" is a platinum selling album and reached #15 on the Billboard Album charts plus in my opinion alone It's my pick for Best Album of 1990.
